Jury Duty

Well, I was called into Jury Duty this morning.  Luckily, I wasn't picked as a juror.  I was 4 seats away when they finally had 12 jurors and an alternate.  I was close.

I say luckily, because it was a criminal case involving a man and a 5 year old girl.  The little girl will be testifying and there would be pictures shown.  It was of the sexual nature.  Thank goodness I wasn't selected.  I don't think I could sit through that and be unbiased.

As mad as I am that something could've happened between those two (I don't know since I wasn't there), I'm also very concerned that the parents put on a party where there was tons of alcohol consumed and felt it was safe enough for their 5 year old to attend or be in the same house.  Where were her parents when this allegedly took place?

Yuck.  My stomach was doing flip flops the entire time.  I can't even imagine what took place.  I hope justice is served if something did take place.  And, since there are pictures, I'm guessing that something did.

I don't know what I would do if I was picked for a jury in a case like that. I don't think I could handle it either. How sad that there are so many gross people in this world that do horrid things to these children. )o:

Blech. I remember during my Crim Law class when we were covering rape, which was extremely difficult to read case law over, when one girl stood up and announced that any girl that gets raped is "asking for it." I was shocked, even the Prof! I was like GREAT future lawyer...

I don't think I could ever do jury duty for something of that nature... how do you stay unbiased? Glad you weren't picked and I sincerely pray that girl gets justice.
