Monthly Running Recap

School has basically taken over my life (in case you couldn't tell), but I've still been able to squeeze in my long runs - that's about all though.

So, without further ado...

August 2010
19.33 Total Miles
15:09 overall pace  (give a girl a break, it was HOT!!)

September 2010
32.8 Total Miles
13:40 overall pace (getting there....almost..still pretty warm!)

So, you can definitely see some improvement... I can't wait to see if October improves any since the weather is cooling off now!

Btw, I'm still not up to par on the mileage yet, but I'm basically running once a week due to school.  But, we don't want to talk about that anymore!  LOL

Stress Level = High

I've decided that next semester I'm only taking 1 graduate class.  Ever since making that decision, I can't wait for next semester.  LOL

I don't know what I was thinking taking 2 classes while working full time.  I seriously have never been this busy or stressed in my life.

We have a test in my Econ class next Monday.  He gave us our very first homework assignment and made it due the night of the test.  Um, how does this make sense?  Don't you think we should go over the homework before taking a test over the material?  Seriously, most of the class is lost.  It's not the economics part that's got us, it's the Calculus.  Yes, Calculus.  Yikes.

The more questions you ask him, the more generic his answers get.  I seriously got more pissed off the longer I sat in class last night.  I didn't know whether to laugh or cry last night when I left class.  That's the same thing another girl said as she was walking out as well.  So, I bet you can guess what I'll be doing the rest of this week and the weekend....If you said studying my butt off, then you're correct!  That is, after I do my homework for my other class.  :(

Btw, this teacher is now known as the teacher from Hell....and here I thought last semester's teacher was bad!  This one is in a whole other category!

Updates

Just a quick life update!
  1. We're having another open house this Sunday. Our house has now been on the market for 3 weeks as of today!
  2. I have my first doctor's appointment concerning my body being stubborn and not cooperating on the whole baby producing front...next Tuesday the 14th. I'm sure they'll just start off by doing some blood work.
  3. The temperatures are starting to drop and running is starting to get a tad easier! We ran 6.4 miles this past Saturday and it was my best run yet! Last night, we did 4 miles and it was a humid mess and it didn't go as great.
  4. School hasn't gotten too overwhelming YET. One of my classes requires a 10 page (minimum) paper and then a 20 minute presentation - on different subjects. Yikes.

I'm A Southern Gal

Halloween 2002

I'm a southern gal; there's no denying it. I was born and raised in Arkansas and it's where I call home. But, other than that, here are a list of things that I believe make me southern to my core.
  • I like Iced Tea (unsweetened for me though) with my meals.
  • I love country music. Country music and outdoorsy stuff just go together.
  • Fried foods are yummy in my book.... espec fried okra, fried pickles, and fried squash. YUM!
  • A can of Rotel or Cream of Chicken Soup makes any casserole or dish better.
  • A favorite past time of mine... MUDDING! Espec on 4wheelers. So.Much.Fun!
  • "Ya'll" is a huge part of my vocabulary.
  • I like to camp, fish, and swim in lakes.
  • I've been turkey, raccoon, and deer hunting.
  • I believe deer meat can be used in chili - it tastes pretty good!
  • I've won a few company fishing tournaments in my age division when I was younger.
  • I think it's totally okay for a female to mow the lawn - I help hubs every week and actually enjoy it!
There are many, many more things I'm sure...but those are the only ones I can think of right now!

Joining A Sorority

A few of us in Florida for Spring Break 2001. The best Spring Break that I've ever had!

If you ask me what's the best thing I did in college (besides going to class and graduating), my answer would definitely be - joining a sorority - joining Tri-Sigma.
I know some people say that you're paying for your friends, but honestly, you're not. You're paying dues just like you would for any other organization you would join. You're paying for the decorations and food for the mixers, the rent on the room or house that you have your meetings in, the cute t-shirts, etc. You don't pay for your friends - you pay for what you and your friends do. And, even if you DID pay for you friends, I'd definitely pay for these ladies.

The only ladies that I keep in contact with these days.... the ladies that I call when I have news, that I forward crazy emails to, that I call when I need a Girls Night Out, that I want to celebrate my birthday with... are the ladies that were in that room - my sorority sisters. Other friends that I had in college or at previous jobs - I'm not even sure where they are now, but my sisters - these girls are forever. I can't describe the bonds that were formed in that room. But, I know that without a doubt, if I ever need anything - those girls are there - and they have been. They've been there in many, many ways - through the good times and the bad.

I also wanted to say this... I was one of those girls who knew that I wasn't the typical "sorority girl." Now, I did go to my fair share of parties at frat houses - there's no denying that. But, I wasn't the kind of girl that you see portrayed in movies or on tv. My sorority was a bunch of normal girls - girls who liked playing intramurals, who liked to shop, who liked to watch tv with her friends in her dorm room, who liked eating out at the sandwich shop with her girlfriends, who made midnight runs to Taco Bell, who liked to talk trash about their ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend. We were very normal girls.

If you're thinking of joining a sorority - definitely look into it. It was one of the best decisions that I ever made. I went to a fairly large school and it was nice to know that no matter what class I was in - I was going to know someone due to the Greek system. There was always going to be someone in that room who I met at a frat party, a mixer, a Greek Week festivity, at Rush, etc. It makes that first day of school nerves totally vanish.

What A Difference!

I went home yesterday and took a nice 45 minute nap - it was wonderful! Then, I went to bed at a glorious 8pm! I woke up this morning feeling SO MUCH BETTER!

Also, this might be TMI, but I woke up this morning to mother nature's gift - totally unexpected. So, that explains my fatigue, water retention, and bad mood, too! But, seriously mother nature, can we please have some form of regulation? I mean, last month it was 39 days, this month it's 24. GEEZ LOUISE! How are we suppose to have a baby when you wont cooperate?!

And on another totally unrelated note...
Look what we made this weekend....
Homemade Pizza

Homemade Nachos

Um, hello nice 4 mile run this afternoon... I've got some extra pounds to burn off! HA! You see, we've been trying not to eat out (we usually eat out like 4 times a week) and so far, we've gone 2 weeks without doing so! We're doing this because we spend entirely too much money eating out each month - so we're making some of our favorites at home! :)

And yes, those are so VERY UNHEALTHY, but at least it was turkey pepperoni, right?
