Almost Crafty

We've been trying to get our house ready to sell. So, part of this weekend was spent moving things such as an elliptical, bowflex, and a love seat into storage. Ya'll my T-Rex arms were really put to use! And, as I dropped my end of the love seat in the front yard, hubs might've told me it was time to hit the gym! ha!

Anyways, I've been trying to make our house look more like a home and less like an oversize storage building. I'm not even kidding. So, to make the front room look bigger, we decided to take the love seat out of it. What did we put in it's place? A cute little book shelf that was in one of the spare bedrooms.

Before (picture taken last year):

You can kinda tell in this picture... When you open the door, you were greeted by the love seat and our wireless surround sound thing-a-bob.

Now (taken with my iPhone at 5am this morning.):

Now, I know it's nothing huge, but I'm very proud of myself. I didn't have to buy one single thing! Now, let me explain the items a little bit.
  • The bowl on top was a wedding gift. I'm looking for something bold and red to put in it. Hubs wanted to put our keys in it, but I'm afraid it will chip the bowl. It has a really neat shape and due to the lighting and the poor quality of the photo, you can't tell that.
  • We're planning on taking our DVD collection and storing it while the house is listed. We have well over 200 DVD's. So, my thoughts were, lets take the BluRays and display them here so that we'll at least have those while we're trying to sell the house.
  • The T monogram was a wedding gift that we haven't had the opportunity to display until now. I love it!
  • The leather box in the middle was a Hobby Lobby steal from a few weeks back. Originally $40 marked down to $13. It holds all of our random running stuff.
  • A few cookbooks. I have about 15 cookbooks and these are the ones that I'd like to keep out, in case the others go into storage.
  • Our wedding album. I thought it needed something to "balance" the bottom shelf out and for now, this is going to be the balancer.
I also took the wireless surround sound thing-a-bob down as well. I thought it looked too distracting. So, there you have it! Just a little something I worked on this weekend for a few minutes. As things progress, I'll show ya'll some more pictures. And yes, we're still working on that bathroom! ha!

Our home could use a makeover in some areas to look like less of a storage building! Great job!

I love it. My house could use some help, one room in particular.

Looks great!

Isn't it just like a man to suggest putting keys in a beautiful ornamental bowl? If it doesn't have some utility, what is it good for? :-)

I could spend hours in Hobby Lobby! The shelf looks really cute, love it!

PS: I'm so sorry I haven't gotten the book out to you. It's all packaged and I'm going to the post office tomorrow. PROMISE! :)
