Remember how I said that I've started training for something that is not running related? Well, it's not just me, it's hubs, too. We've decided to do the first annual Ranch Ride!
The Ranch Ride is a ride that benefits Soaring Wings Ranch, here in Arkansas. You might recall that the 2 half marathons that I've done also benefited Soaring Wings Ranch. So, of course, when I heard about this ride I knew that I had to do it! And since cycling is more hubs thing, I knew that I could probably talk him into doing it with me! Score!
The Ranch Ride has 3 distances: 8, 34, and 54 miles. The hubs and I have decided to do the 34 mile distance. Originally I wanted to do the 54 mile distance, but since this will be our first bike race (what do you actually call bike races?? LOL) we decided that the 34 miles sounded more doable. The furthest we've ever gone on our road bikes has been around 25 miles on one ride, so this will be a new distance for us.
So, as you can probably tell, I'm pretty excited (and scared)! I've never done something like this and truth be told, the thing that scares me the most is either falling off my bike or getting a flat tire! Hopefully I'll figure out how to change a flat before June 4th! (Hubs knows how; I'm sure he'll teach me.)
So, June 4th and 34 miles here we come!

That's awesome! I will be doing the 27 mile Tour for the Cure to raise awareness and money for Diabetes research that weekend! Wahoo!
What a great event. So neat that you can do it with your husband. I don't know how to change a flat either, luckily there's only one wheel in spinning class (ha,ha!)
That is so awesome and what a great cause! Have fun switching it up and training with the hubs!
I didn't realize that SW was doing this! Awesome!
So when does the training begin?
Awesome! I finally got my husband to agree to run a half marathon with me in April. I've been trying for years! I'm so excited to be there for his first race and to train with him. You guys are going to have so much fun! Best of luck!
This sounds really exciting Shannon! And how awesome that you and your husband are doing this together. (o:
sounds awesome! good luck on the new adventure!
So cool! I love that you guys are doing this together! And GIRL---You MUST do the Keratin Complex for your hair! You will love it!!!! :)
Awesome! Can't wait to hear more about it - what an inspiration to me, thanks for sharing!
So cool!! Woo hoo! I am excited that it is something you can do with hubs :) I think I would just call it a "ride". Bike races are weird to me - they just meet up and ride, no awards. I did one with my dad a few years ago and I was like, where is my age group award" after haha.
Ahhh so awesome!!!
