3 Things Thursday

  1. On Tuesday, hubs and I ran 3.1 miles straight - without stopping! This was a first for both of us. We've always done the Galloway method - the 4:1 interval to be specific. So, I was/am thrilled that I decided to try to do it! Honestly, my time wasn't that bad for me - 38:22! Needless to say, I was sore Wednesday and I'm still a tad sore today. Tonight is the run clinic and I'm going to attempt to run straight through once again. It's one of my goals on race day!
  2. Next Monday (the 3rd) is my final for my grad class. I've been studying my booty off and I'm going to continue to do that the next few days. Let me just say, I do not miss finals one bit! Because of said final, I haven't been doing much besides studying...and I'm a stress eater. So, I'm a tad concerned about tomorrow's weigh-in. Eeek!
  3. I've become addicted to Literati on Yahoo IM. We use IM here at work to communicate and a few of us have been playing the game. Do not worry though - it's not like that's all we've been doing! It took 8 hours to play 2 games yesterday! So trust me when I say - we're still working away! But seriously, I may have to get the app Words with Friends. I love this game so much, that I missed it when I left work yesterday! ha!

Wallpaper? What Wallpaper?!

Ya'll, it happened. It really happened... I was sitting on the couch Sunday morning looking through the paper for my coupons (there were zero! none! booo hissss!) and hubs said, "You know what I want to do today?" I looked over and expected him to say something about bike riding - I was hoping and praying that wasn't it! ha! He goes on to tell me that he wanted to remove the wallpaper in the front bathroom!!!!

YES!
I was ecstatic! You see, I've been wanting to do this for a while, but I've been waiting on him to want to do it. We've both have heard horror stories about removing wallpaper - so I wasn't pushing the subject!
So, I ran to the grocery store and he ran to the home improvement store. We met back at the house and tackled the wallpaper! Did you know, it only took us 2 hours to remove it?! It was easy as pie! Seriously! Here's how we did it, in case anyone needs to tackle their wallpaper:
  1. Remove the top layer. Just pull it down.
  2. Take wallpaper remover (we used "DIF") and soak the remaining paper (we used a spray bottle).
  3. Pull it down before it dries. If it dries, re-soak it.
Then, you're finished. Seriously, easy as pie! But, if you don't soak the remaining paper or it dries before you're able to pull it down - it will grab the sheet rock. So, make sure you soak it or you'll be spackling!
So, after that, we showered, changed, and had dinner with his dad and stepmother. Then, we made a trip to the home improvement store to look at paint samples! We bought 3 tester jars of paint and I'm thinking I'm going to go buy 1 more in a shade in between.
The best part of yesterday? Hubs told me that he actually had fun doing it. It was fun to do home improvement things with me. We didn't fuss or fight. It wasn't horrible like we expected. So, we're both looking forward to doing more!
Don't worry - I took a before picture of the bathroom with all of it's wallpapery glory! ha! And, I still have the pictures to show you of when we changed out the kitchen knobs! :o)

Bridges, Cage Fighting, & Golf

We had a very busy weekend! I did not want to get out of bed this morning!

  • Friday evening, I went shopping after work. I hit up a sale at JC Penney and only spent $9 of my own money - I had a gift card that I used for the rest! Score! Then, we went out to eat for dinner.
  • Saturday morning we went on an 18 mile bike ride! We even biked up the BD Bridge twice. For those of you who don't know what the BDB is - click here. You'll want to see the picture on the homepage to fully understand what an accomplishment it is to bike up the stupid thing - twice! ha!
  • We then came home and mowed the front and back yards. That was much needed - I'm sure our neighbors are thanking us!
  • That evening, we went and watched our good friend Joe fight in his first public MMA fight. Ladies, think cage fighting. Yes, I went and watched cage fighting Saturday night! Here is a video of our friend fighting. It's not the greatest video, but you get the idea. He won the fight!! We stayed for all of the fights and even watched some Pro chicks fight as well!
  • We then headed downtown and finally got home at 2am. Wow.
  • Sunday morning, we got up and played 9 holes of golf with my parents. We love playing golf with them - it's a lot of fun! Then we went grocery shopping, cleaned house and all that jazz.
  • Sunday evening we grilled out steaks, baked some potatoes, and some garlic bread! We even grilled our boys some hot dogs! They loved them!
So, a busy weekend in deed! Tonight, is class! Only a few more weeks of class left!

  • Going 2.8 miles before having our first flat on our new road bikes
  • walking 2.8 miles back to the truck bc we didn't have a spare tube
  • learning how to change a bike tire
  • getting a bike changing kit
  • going 17 miles on the new bikes after said tire was changed
  • my first sunburn of the year
  • doing homework till almost 10pm on a Saturday night
  • Easter lunch at his Meemaws
  • a 2 mile walk around the lake

Happy Good Friday!

We're going with bullets....

  • Hubs has Strep Throat. Remember when I had that last summer? Yeah, I do NOT want that again. Please do not let me get sick. Please. BTW, this is his first time having Strep and I think he's eating his words - when he called me a baby last summer because I whined alot. ha. :)
  • I registered for 2 fall classes this morning. I'll be taking Managerial Economics on Mondays 6-9 and then Operations Management on Thursdays 6-9. I'm hoping I didn't make a mistake by taking these two together, but I think it has to be better than the class I'm taking right now! I do foresee lots of caffeine since I get up at 4am - there will be lots and lots of long days! Boooo!
  • I'm starting to like Bare Minerals more and more. My only question is, how do you travel with the loose powder? I can see it's going to create such a mess when I open the lids....
  • I've decided not to run the new 5k this year. Brandi sent me the route and it looks more like an obstacle course than a race. Seriously, they have you run through a local university's campus and the route actually takes you running by the library, cafeteria, dorms, and around decorative fountains. Um, no thanks!
  • I woke up thinking it was Saturday again... I think that's a for sure sign that it's been a long week.
  • I've almost finished reading The Choice by Nicholas Sparks. I have less than 10 pages left. So far, it's a great book, but I'm beginning to wonder how it's going to end.
  • I hope everyone has a great Easter weekend and remembers what Easter is truely all about. It's not about the Easter Bunny or the chocolate candy. It's about Jesus dying for all of our sins.
"The angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.’" Matthew 28:5-6a (NIV)
